New Roads Presents at US Dept of Education Conference

The United States Department of Education’s 2021 National Private School Leadership Conference was designed to create a forum to discuss the work and issues that pertain to private schools. Maureen Dowling, Director of the Office of Non-Public Education for the U.S. Department of Education invited Head of School Luthern Williams, along with Director of Student Wellbeing Mario Johonson, Assistant Head of School for Program Daniela Pennise and Director of Community Engagement Mark Vickers-Willis to share how New Roads’ unique approach to education liberates the full potential of young people. The hope is that New Roads’ educational model will stimulate conversations that will inspire educators to reimagine education so that it builds a foundation for wellbeing for authentically diverse young people and prepares them to use their gifts to serve the common good.

In September 2022, New Roads traveled to Washington, DC at the US Department of Education’s National Private School Leadership Conference. This invitation-only event is for thought leaders and opinion makers on the national and state level. New Roads was one of the few schools in attendance and offered the opportunity to participate.
