The New Roads Athletic Program is competitive while focusing on skill development and positive athletic experiences. The Athletic Department fully supports the mission of New Roads School, inspiring students to be self-motivated and joyful participants in their physical education, to strive for excellence, and to develop such personal growth attributes as loyalty, integrity, responsibility, healthy competition, and commitment.
At the elementary and middle school levels, everyone who wishes to join an athletic team may do so regardless of prior experience or skill level. The Elementary School participates in the Sky League and the Middle School competes in the Pacific Basin League. At the high school level we do have try-outs for some sports but because of our belief in the benefits of competitive athletics for all students, students whose abilities do not place them on a varsity team are encouraged to participate at the junior varsity level. Currently, the High School is a member of the Harbor League but beginning with the academic year 2010-11, we will be joining the Coastal League.

New Roads Varsity Baseball completed its season with a 17 – 9 record!

Achieving a major turnaround from last year’s 5 – 15 mark, the Jaguars were Harbor League Champions and quarterfinalists in the CIF Playoffs. The team’s improvement was punctuated with a number of player achievements.
Anthony Carrillo was named Harbor League Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year. The following players received Harbor League 1st or 2nd Team designations: Max Chilkov, Dylan Elkin, Quinn Barbini, Nick Rhys, and Anthony Carrillo received 1st Team honors, while Niko Delgado and Blaise Dolcemaschio were named to the 2nd Team. According to MaxPreps.com, Anthony Carrillo finished the season ranked # 8 in strikeouts among sophomores in California, and #25 among sophomores in the entire country.
Blaise Dolcemaschio completed an error free season as the New Roads catcher ending the season ranked as the # 1 fielding catcher among all class years (i.e. – among all freshmen, sophomores, juniors, & seniors combined) in California and # 11 among all class years in the entire country. It was quite a season for our baseball team and we are already preparing for next year. |
